What Actually Happens During a Psychic Reading

A lot of people come to me not quite knowing what to expect.

That is perfectly fine. In fact, I prefer it that way. When someone walks in, or picks up the phone, with an open mind rather than a set of rigid expectations, the reading almost always goes deeper. The energy flows better. The connection is clearer. I have been doing this work for over forty years, and I can tell you without hesitation that the clients who get the most out of a session are the ones who come in willing to receive whatever comes through, not just what they were hoping to hear.

If you have never had a psychic reading before, you probably have questions. What is going to happen? What will I be asked? Is this going to be like something I saw on television? I want to answer those questions honestly, because I think people deserve to understand what this work actually is before they sit down with someone like me.

What a Psychic Reading Is (and What It Is Not)

A reading is not a performance. It is not a trick. When I sit with someone, I am tapping into their energy, the unique field that surrounds every person and carries information about where they have been, what is weighing on them right now, and what lies ahead if they stay on the path they are currently walking. I describe my gift as the ability to tap into another person's energy to help them come to conclusions and make important life decisions.

What I am not doing is telling you a fixed, unchangeable story about your future. The future is not set in concrete. What comes through in a reading is a picture of the most likely direction based on the energy that exists right now. If you take different actions, make different choices, the path shifts. That is actually the whole point, a reading is meant to help you steer your situation in the right direction. It is a tool for clarity, not a verdict.

How the Process Works

When you book a session with me or one of my readers, the first thing we do is connect. We want to understand a little about what brought you in, not because we need you to tell us everything, but because knowing the general area of your life you are seeking guidance on helps us direct the reading. Some people come in about love. Some about finances or career. Others are dealing with grief, or feeling stuck, or sensing that something in their home or personal energy just does not feel right.

From there, we open the connection. For me, my natural gifts are my primary tool. I have also been working with tarot cards for nearly a decade now, and I find they serve as an excellent way to give structure to what I am receiving intuitively. The cards are not a magic answer machine, they are a framework that helps translate energy into something visual and easier to discuss.

Throughout the reading, I will share what I am picking up. Sometimes it is specific, names, dates, situations from your past that you have not mentioned. Sometimes it is broader and thematic. I always encourage people to respond, to confirm or correct what I am saying.

That back-and-forth is not me fishing for information. It is the natural way energy communication works. When you confirm something, it strengthens the signal and allows me to go deeper.

My Number One Piece of Advice

Stay open. That is it. The single most important thing you can bring to a reading is a willingness to hear things you might not have expected. I have had clients come in wanting confirmation of one thing and leave with clarity about something completely different, something that turned out to be far more important to their life at that moment.

Share your energy. Do not sit with your arms crossed waiting to be impressed. A reading is a collaborative experience. The more you engage, the more you get out of it. I often say the more you put into your readings, the more you will get out of the experience. That is just the truth of how it works.

Also, do not worry if you are skeptical. I have had my share of skeptics walk through my door. That is perfectly fine with me. My readings have a way of opening people's minds and providing a different perspective on where they are at and where they are headed. I do not ask anyone to believe anything before we begin. I just ask that they give the process a fair chance.

Before Your First Reading, A Few Practical Notes

Come with a clear intention. You do not need to write it down or recite it, just hold it in your heart. Know why you are coming and what you are hoping to get out of the experience. That intention creates an energetic anchor that helps the reading stay focused.

Be honest. If something I say does not resonate, say so. If something hits home, let me know. This is not a game where you test me to see if I get everything right. It is a conversation between you, me, and whatever information Spirit makes available during that session.

Bring a note-taking method if it helps you, a pen and paper, or whatever you prefer. Readings can cover a lot of ground, and people sometimes want to revisit certain things after they leave. Memory has a way of softening the details.

And finally, give yourself a little time after the reading before you jump back into a full schedule. Sometimes what comes up in a session needs a moment to settle. I have had clients realize three days later that something I said made perfect sense in a situation they had not even encountered yet at the time of the reading.
